Fine Dining Overlooking the Giza Plateau

About this tour

Enjoy a memorable dinner at a rooftop restaurant with a direct view of the illuminated Giza pyramids. The perfect evening experience in Cairo.

What to expect

This is a relaxed evening rather than a sightseeing tour. You are driven to a rooftop restaurant in Giza that faces the pyramids, which are floodlit after dark. From the terrace you can look across to the silhouettes of the Great Pyramid and Khafre's pyramid, with the Sphinx below them toward the village side of the plateau. On evenings when the Sound and Light Show is running, part of the lighting and color changes may be visible from nearby rooftops, though the narration is not. Dinner is included, so the evening is about good food, conversation and the view of monuments that have stood for some 4,500 years.

How the evening runs

A driver collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza in the early evening and brings you back afterward; transfers both ways are included. The drive from Giza hotels is short, while central Cairo can take 45 minutes or longer in evening traffic. At the restaurant your table is arranged in advance, and you have dinner at an unhurried pace. The total time, including transfers, is about three hours. This is a good choice for your first or last night in Cairo, or for an evening after a busy day of touring when you want something easy.

Good to know

Drinks are not included and are paid directly at the restaurant. Let us know about vegetarian, vegan or allergy needs when you book and we will pass them on and confirm what the kitchen can offer. Evenings in Giza can be cool from December to February, so bring a light jacket for the rooftop. If you have a special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday, tell us in advance and we will ask the restaurant what they can arrange. The view is best on clear nights; dust or haze occasionally softens it.

Planning your evening

The view changes through the evening. If you arrive around sunset, you see the pyramids turn from gold to grey before the floodlights come on; arriving later means the full night lighting from the start. Sunset in Giza falls around 5 pm in winter and close to 7 pm in summer, and we set your pickup time accordingly. Many travelers book this dinner on their arrival night, when jet lag makes a long outing unappealing, or after a day at the Giza Plateau, so they can see the same monuments by day and again by night from a relaxed seat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are drinks included?

No. Dinner and hotel transfers in both directions are included, but drinks are not. You can order soft drinks, juices, tea or coffee at the restaurant and pay for them there. Entry tickets to any sites are also excluded, since this evening does not include a visit to the plateau itself.

How is the price calculated?

The price is $50 in total for one guest and $70 in total for two. For groups of three or more, it is $35 per person. That covers dinner and the return transfer between your hotel and the restaurant.

Can I combine this with the Sound and Light Show?

They are booked as separate experiences, but they fit together naturally because both take place at Giza in the evening. Tell us you would like both, and we will suggest a timing that works for the show schedule on your date.

Is it suitable for families?

Yes. The atmosphere is casual, there is no long walking, and children usually enjoy seeing the pyramids lit up at night. If you are traveling with young children, mention it when booking so we can plan pickup times that suit them.
